Suicide By Obesity

I was going through my Google Alerts the other day looking for some content for my blog and this caption caught my attention; Obesity at 37 Percent: Woman Hopes to Weigh 1200 Pounds, Marrying Chef. (Original Article)  My mind began to do summersaults…I thought to myself, "Who in the world would want to gain that much weight?  This is certainly someone who wants to commit suicide by obesity".

As I clicked on the link, gazed at her pictures and started reading the article, my jaw almost dropped to the floor. The more I  read this incredible story, my emotions were all over the place.  First I was plain Angry. Does she not know that Obesity is one of the most insidious health conditions today…It is an epidemic for crying out loud!!  People who are overweight and obese have a higher incidence of heart disease, which in turn, causes heart attack, congestive heart failure, type 2 diabetes, hypertension and a host of life threatening health problems.

As I continued to read the article, I become Really, Really Pissed! Susanne Eman who has already put her life at risk by allowing her weight to climb to over 700 lbs, has been slowly  nailing the lid on her coffin shut by striving to become the fattest woman in the world and  attempting to increase her weight to 1,200 lbs so she can get married!!! What was more astounding was her boyfriend, who is a  chef, is actually helping her gain all of this weight by preparing and feeding her humongous meals that contain the highest calories!!!
I thought to myself..This Is Crap!

As far as I'm concerned, he is the one who has the hammer in his hands and is driving the nails.  He should be considered a murderer.  He says that he is feeding her massive amounts of food because he loves BIG WOMEN!!   Come on...REALLY!!!  What some people have done in an effort to get their names in the paper has been amazing but this is down right Insanity!!!

The killing part (no pun intended) about this tragic event is, he says he is assisting her in this death wish  because… it makes her happy …WHAT?  They both need to be on somebody's therapy couch!!! Tell me, who in their right mind says and does something so destructive…on purpose, and admits to it.
This is the epitome of gluttony!

I sat here looking at her pictures and reading over the article and my compassion kicked in.. I  began to feel Sad  for her.  She likens her goal of eventually weighing 1,200 pounds to athletic training…She says that it is not an easy thing to gain hundreds of pounds  because even though she is upping the amounts of food that  she is eating, she is still  trying to stay healthy.  Doesn't she realize that she is fighting a loosing battle.  I've had poor self-esteem in the past as well been very self-destructive, and self-centered….I was in so much internal pain and despair so, my bet would be, Susanne is experiencing these same feelings.

No matter what she says, she can't really feel good about herself, and she has to be hurting inside.  Who would actually say they love ruining their health and possibly dying….so they can get married.   No one would unless they had a low self image.  At no time in this article or the other three that I've read, was there ever a mention of them loving one another and worse yet, she says  "It's a deep desire for me to do this and I feel I can do it without endangering my health, so I don't worry about my boys."

Susanne Eman needs to think long and hard about the burden of worry she is placing on her family along with the probable embarrassment  How does she wipe her you know what or even take a bath? Has the thought ever crossed her mind about the expense of her funeral and the cost of having a custom made coffin, or the cost to tax payers who will have to foot her medical care  I wonder if her boyfriend is going to  help her with those arrangements?

Has she thought about the message she is sending other women who are desperately trying to loose weight because they have gained excess pounds or maybe they are obese or morbidly so….I would gather to say no.  All that she is thinking about is being the Fattest WomanOne of the fattest women in the world In The World!..This is truly a profound case of Suicide By Obesity!

If you or someone you know is trying desperately to loose unwanted pounds, Xyngular Products can be your solution.  I was obese and they helped me!

I’M Back And No Longer Fat!!!

No Longer Fat!

Hi!  It's so wonderful to report...I'm Back,… And No Longer Fat! I have been offline for reasons which you can read on the second post of my "About" page.  I'm very Thankful today for the challenges and adversity which I endured over these past months.  I found myself in my own personal "pig pen" wallowing in self-pity and came to the realization that I had so much to be thankful for.  God, in His incomprehensible mercy and grace, gave me beauty for ashes and and I feel so privileged to give Him glory and honor in everything that I do!!

Now, having explained my whereabouts for these last months, let me refresh your memory..I had grained a ton of weight and I was pissed and determined to do something about it.  Here is a paragraph of the post I had done back in April of last year called "Gluttony In America"

Why I'm Ranting

"Why am I ranting? Because I'm fat, borderline obese and I'm pissed!   I recently started my own weight loss program and never having the need for a scale before, I just went out and bought one. (I promise I will tell you how much it says I weigh, but just keep in mind, like my friend Kris told me, scales are evil and they lie..smile).

During my research on how to correct my own weight gain, I have  come to truly understand the profound implications of what it  really means when I hear and read the word "obese".   So if you are overweightI'm Ranting Because I'm Fatht (like me) or even obese, or worse, you child is, I hope this video will help to motivate you into action…. Oh yeah, 216 lbs!  Oh Crap!"

Yep, I weighed a whopping 216 lbs!  I was borderline obese….. I'm lying! so let me tell you the truth.  After putting my numbers in the BMI Calculator, It said I was actually obese, no borderline about it!  (There, now I said it!…WOW, that’s a relief!). My BMI was 34.9 – OBESE! I was so disgusted with myself because I was so fat, I had high blood pressure and my feet were swollen everyday, so I started seeking answers as to how it happened and exactly what I could do about it.

Prior to gaining the weight, I was so uninformed..I didn't have a clue as to the obesity epidemic in America and actually, globally. The more I read, the more my concern grew as to not only what we as baby boomers and adults, were doing to our overall health by over eating and not exercising, but also, because we had become a nation of obese adults,  our children were following in our footsteps!!…..Not good!!!

Obesity in America has proven to have drastically harmed our overall health and wellness, but more frightening, our detrimental eating habits have severely affected our children, our future generation, and it goes far beyond what the eye can see;

“……..increasing stigma for those children who are overweight or obese which, in turn, can reinforce unhealthy behaviors (e.g., overeating)… Studies suggest that overweight children who are teased about their appearance are more likely to binge eat or use unhealthy weight-control practices, and weight-based victimization has been correlated with lower levels of physical activity. Not surprisingly, stigmatization of obese individuals, particularly adolescents, poses risks to their psychological health.”

If you want to know more about Childhood Obesity, Strong4life.com is an excellent resource. (See Below)  On their home page, it says that childhood obesity is a crisis.

  • “Everyone knows that we should eat better and exercise. Childhood obesity is a crisis because nearly 40% of children in the state (of Georgia) are overweight or obese.
  • It's a health crisis because obese children are at risk for developing heart disease, hypertension, liver and kidney disease and type 2 diabetes

This crisis is not just isolated to Georgia.  However, I’m so glad that the state has taken a proactive position to look for solutions and are taking action to eliminate the problem.

So how do we stop the cycle?  Where do we start?  There are solutions. but how about starting with our eating habits.  Take a look at this video, it will give you a place to start and a real eye opener.:

What is this post all about?  If you have not guessed, it is about the obesity problem, epidemic, crisis…whatever you want to call it, it's about our health and the health of our nation.   Something has to be done, and it starts with each and everyone of us, who have experienced weight gain or who have an obesity problem…you must start doing something about it NowTODAY!!!

It’s about the choice to live a healthy lifestyle and long lives. It is also about the health and/or death of our future generation. Now you may say to yourself, (that is, if you are overweight) “Yeah, this is all easy for you write about, but what have you done about your own weight gain?”  Well, I’m not bragging, but I’m so pleased to tell you that since April of last year, I have lost a total of 34 lbs!!!  I still have a little ways to go, but after loosing 34 lbs, I couldn't be more grateful!

My BMI is now 29.5 which means, I'm still overweight, but I have made grate strides, and I will continue until I get down to my desired wieght.   Needless to say,… I am over the top HAPPY!!!!  I would have had better results at this point had it not been for my inability to take the awesome products I was introduced to for almost 3 months.  However, I have gone from a size 18, down to a size 12…  Woooo Hoooo! And let me tell you, I look good and I feel fantastic!!!

So this is it, I just wanted to let you know that I’m still dedicated to providing you with information that affects us baby boomer's as it relates to our health, wellness and the lifestyle we live, and of course, I wanted you to know, I'm no longer fat or obese!.  If you are interested in how I lost my weight, accomplished better health and how you can achieve the same results…even faster, please go to my site. To Your Abundant Success!

Diet Related Chronic Diseases

Last week my post  "Obesity And The Dietary Guidelines For Americans 2010", I spoke of Diet Related Chronic Diseases and Dietary Guidelines For Americans 2010listed 2 of the 5 that are most prevalent.   I also expressed how important it is that we as Americans become educated in regards to detrimental eating behaviors in order that we take the responsibility as individuals to enhance our Nations health and the health of future generations

American Home's And Insufficiency

The nutritional recommendations for  individuals by the Dietary Guidelines additionally understands that currently almost 15 % of American homes are actually not to be able to obtain sufficient food  to satisfy their particular requirements basically because of limited finances. This nutritional guidance will help them increase the dietary and nutritional content for the necessary foods even with their financial  resource difficulties.  A number of other's do not really eat  the ideal  amount  of specified nutrients, despite the fact that they've sufficient means to achieve a  healthy diet and lifestyle. The dietary information and guidelines might help these individuals select a  balanced and  nutritionally healthy and acceptable diet program by following The Dietary Guidelines For Americans 2010.

Consequently because  of  the changes in the way the majority of us eat as well as the way we live, numerous chronic diseases are actually progressively affecting Americans so adversely that "Diet-related chronic disease, including obesity, is a defining public health issue of our time."  says Margaret A. Hamburg, M.D., Commissioner of Food and Drugs.  Certainly, diet-related chronic diseases  including obesity,  diabetes, coronary disease, cancer, and osteoporosis, are the most prevalent illnesses which have increased over the past years and the major cause of death in America as well as other countries.  These chronic disease have additionally  caused a great financial  toll on our society and the communities in which we live.

Chronic Diseases Are Preventable

Below you will find the list of the final 3 chronic diseases that have placed the heaviest toll on  American lives and the  society in which we live.  Please take the time to read the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2010 as it could help save your life or the life of a loved one, and at the very least, the Guidelines have been designed to give you recommendations that will assist  in developing  healthier alternatives as it relates to diet, nutrition and physical exercise.  Diet plus a lifestyle of inactivity, plays a major role in chronic diseases and  although most chronic diseases are long- term, they are preventable.  Making improvements in terms of diet and exercise can help reduce the risk of these chronic diseases.  It is a choice and it is all up to you to make necessary changes that will have a determining factor on the quality of your health as well as the health of your children.  Here are the final 3 of the most detrimental chronic diseases.

s.

Weight Loss Success! – Glenda’s Story

Weight Loss Success!  Glenda's Story

A few months ago, I read a story about a woman who had achieved something so incredible, I could not help but to read her story over and over again.  EachAmazing! - Glenda's Weight Loss time I read it, my profound admiration for her and her phenomenal weight loss success as well as her journey, grew and grew.  If you look in the dictionary for the word "Success", Glenda's picture should be there.  This is a story about a woman who weighed  340 pounds.  She had not been able to tie her own shoes or even see her own feet in over 15 years… but she lost 197 pounds!  She says in her unbelievable story

"I was trapped in a body weighing in over 340 pounds and was ashamed of the fact that I had not been able to reach my feet for 15 years. I felt that God did not give me bones and joints to carry that amount of weight as a person 5'5" with a small frame.  My lifelong relationship with food, lifestyle choices and decisions dealing with life, heartache and disappointment brought me to where I was in January of 2008".

I wanted to put this story on my blog when I first read it, but because of computer problems, I never had a chance to bookmark it. Yesterday morning, I was reading an article "Dare to Walk 20 Minutes A Day" on the LiveSTRONG site and there she was…Glenda, holding up a pair of sweat pants that were three sizes larger than her tiny frame, which she once wore with no room to spare.  Now I could go on and on about this amazing weight loss story, but I will let you read it for yourself….and be inspired!

(Click on Inspiration And Motivation tab above to read this incredible story!)

Gluttony In America

Gluttony In America

Gluttony In America

Gluttony is defined by the dictionary as excessive eating and drinking".  However, metaphorically speaking, just about anything one does excessively is gluttonous.  Gluttony is all about excess, and in America, we  know all too well about  excess.  It was documented just 2 years ago, the typical American ingested over 200 pounds of meat annually, and that equates to more than 1/2 pound of some type of meat, each and every  day, 365 days a year.

Food consumption habits have harmed our overall health and wellness but even more disturbing, our deplorable eating habits have drastically affected the health  of our kids for far too many years.  As  the majority of you  may already know, the obesity crisis is the #1 health topic these days due to the fact that obesity in America continues to grow out of control. Two out of every three adults are both overweight or obese. However, the worse part is, one out of every three youngsters fall into the same category, either severely overweight or obese.

What Have We Been Teaching Our Children?

We have actually been teaching our children the exact same detrimental eating habits and in the end, it is going to be our children who will truly suffer and  One Out Of Every 3 Children Are Obesebecome sicker than we are already, they don't deserve it.  Here is another alarming fact for you to chew on. Over the past 40 years, obesity rates in America have escalated by 659%.  Can you wrap your head around that fact.?  It is almost incomprehensible

Super Sized And Sick

As a nation we are living in a fast food, microwave generation.  Americans eat so much more away from home today than at anytime in our country's history and it just gets worse.  Most restaurant food is far  less healthy for us compared to what we eat at home (sometimes).  On top of that, the portion sizes in most restaurants are gigantic and, for a few pennies more, your already humongous sized meals can be "Super Sized.   We have evolved into a nation of "Sick, Super Sized" people.

Economic Backlash

But gluttony is not just about the excessive, overwhelmingly massive amounts of food  we as Americans consume on a daily basis.  The economic backlash of obesity  is devastating. The high financial cost of obesity in America is at an  all time high.  Alarmingly, research shows that in America alone, obesity related illnesses claim over 850 lives a day and over 300,000 lives each year.  More than half our nation's population are well over their recommended weight  and qualify as obese.  Pediatric diabetes is fast approaching epidemic rates.  Do you know that the The United States spent $75.1 billion last year on medical expenses, such as drugs, doctor visits and hospitalizations, related to obesity according to a study published in the journal of Obesity Research. So what is the core cause?

Gluttony Is A Sin

America is a nation of gluttonous people and not only is it shameful, gluttony is a deadly sin, just like envy, greed, anger, sloth, etc.   Way back in the day, the early Christian monk Evagrius created a list which included "8 impure thoughts" but his list was later revised under Pope Gregory I to the "7 deadly sins".  During that era, a sin was only a "deadly sin" if it was in direct opposition  to one's love of God.  For instance, during those days, if you ate more than you needed, it was an excusable sin.  It only became "deadly when you so over indulged and ate so much just for the pleasure of eating, that it turned the individual away from spiritual instruction.  Back then, it you were considered  gluttonous. you were stoned to death.

Today, we not only turn a blind eye towards celebrities,  politicians and preachers  who publicly exhibit gluttonous behavior, but even worse, we applaud and embrace them.  So when we become obese or incur too many speeding tickets, or gamble away our lives savings putting our families in jeopardy or get cGluttony In Americaaught in adultery, destroying the family,or beat our spouses or allow our children to eat what they want, when they want And always "Super Size" their meals……it has become simply… "The American Way".  Shame on us and sadly, shame on me.

Why I'm Ranting

Why am I ranting? Because I'm fat, borderline obese and I'm pissed!   I recently started my own weight loss program and never having the need for a scale befoI'm Ranting Because I'm Fatre, I just went out and bought one. (I promise I will tell you how much it says I weigh, but just keep in mind, like my friend Kris told me, scales are evil and they lie..smile).

During my research on how to correct my own weight gain, I have  come to truly understand the profound implications of what it  really means when I hear and read the word "obese".   So if you are overweight (like me) or even obese, or worse, you child is, I hope this video will help to motivate you into action…. Oh yeah, 216 lbs!  Oh Crap!
